counsellors & Therapists are massively misled when they are told they can sell courses for easy passive income:
I often see similar misleading information on Counsellor forums which needs addressing:
It’s often claimed that You are able to easily sell courses, resources, memberships & training workshops with ease to create passive income!
NOT TRUE!
I want to take a moment to shed light on the reality of this misconception, breaking it down into all the nitty-gritty details.
Selling courses and resources as a therapist is anything but a walk in the park. It requires extensive time, effort, and patience.
Building a dedicated audience alone can take up to six months, and that’s if you’re working diligently and consistently!
It’s not as simple as setting up a website or social media profile and expecting people to flock in droves.
While therapists possess immense knowledge and expertise, they still need to put in the work to grow their audience organically.
It involves creating valuable content, engaging with followers, collaborating with others in the field, and consistently showing up in the virtual space. It’s about building trust and credibility, one post at a time, weeks and months at a time.
But here’s the kicker: even when therapists establish a solid audience, the conversion rate for selling courses and resources is often lower than expected. This means that only a fraction, typically around 3% of the audience, will actually make a purchase.
It’s not a reflection of the quality or value of the offerings, but rather a testament to the varying needs and preferences of individuals.
Now, let’s look at the often overlooked aspect of marketing and launching.
It’s not a one-and-done process.
It”s a continuous endeavour that requires persistent effort. Even after developing a course or resource, therapists must consistently and continuously market and promote it to their audience.
This involves creating captivating content, running targeted ads, engaging with potential buyers, and reminding them of the value their resources can provide. It’s a never-ending cycle that demands commitment and creativity.
I know all of this as this is what I did to create an initial massive 60% conversion into my membership from the wait list, and it is what I do to have consistently grown the numbers since
So, the next time you come across someone claiming that therapists can effortlessly sell courses and resources, remember the truth behind the scenes.
It’s a journey that involves time, audience growth, and an unwavering dedication to the marketing and launch process.
So appreciate the hard work therapists put into crafting valuable resources, and give them the support they truly deserve!
